Canada Opens C$750 Million Program to Expand Year-Round Fruit and Vegetable Production

Canada launched its C$750 million Controlled Environment Agriculture Growth Pathway Program on October 30, 2026, opening applications for investments in greenhouse technology, indoor farming and local food production.
The program includes C$650 million for technology adoption, including automation, robotics, lighting and digital growing systems, plus C$100 million for food-production projects in rural and northern communities. Approved projects may receive between C$100,000 and C$10 million. Initial project submissions opened October 30 and are accepted until December 23, 2026.
The initiative is intended to help Canadian producers expand domestic fruit and vegetable production, improve productivity and reduce dependence on imported produce.
The C$750 million allocation was previously included in Canada’s National Food Security Strategy, announced June 11. The new development on October 30 is the program’s launch and opening of applications, not a new budget commitment. Actual production gains will depend on funded projects being approved and implemented.
