ACTU-Blade Laser Automated Box Blade Control Kit
The ACTU-Blade Laser Automated Box Blade Control Kit combines the CANAMEK Gold-CAN laser control system with the physical ACTU-Blade box blade. It provides the machine-control electronics and grading implement for following a rotary laser reference during field leveling, surface drainage preparation, property grading and compatible construction work.
A separately supplied red-beam rotary laser establishes the reference plane. The MD205-CAN receiver detects the blade’s position relative to that plane and sends grade information to the CP210-CAN control panel. Operators can use Manual mode for visual guidance or Automatic mode to command blade raising and lowering through a compatible hydraulic solenoid-valve installation.
This laser box blade control system uses the same grading implement offered with the ACTU-Blade GPS Automated Box Blade Control Kit. The laser package pairs that implement with Gold-CAN electronics. Its grading reference, operating controls and specifications therefore follow the Gold-CAN platform.
The kit is intended for farmers, property-grading operators and contractors who require both a box blade and laser-based elevation control. Choose the blade width for the intended machine and work area, then specify the external laser, mounting arrangement and hydraulic connections needed for the installation.
Complete Laser Box Blade Grading Workflow
The system follows a direct sequence from laser reference to blade adjustment:
- Establish the reference. Position a compatible rotary laser on suitable support and set the required reference elevation. Level, single-slope or dual-slope operation depends on the transmitter selected.
- Set the receiver position. Secure the MD205-CAN to an appropriate machine or implement mounting arrangement and establish its relationship to the box blade’s working elevation.
- Configure Gold-CAN. Select Manual or Automatic operation, choose the control tolerance and set the independent raise/lower response for the hydraulic installation.
- Detect grade position. The receiver identifies the laser beam position and sends the information to the control panel through its wired CAN connection.
- Adjust the blade. Follow the indicators with operator-controlled hydraulics in Manual mode, or use the controller’s valve commands in Automatic mode.
- Monitor the grading pass. Check grade indications, blade direction and system status while controlling machine travel and material movement.
The operator establishes the grading objective and laser setup. Gold-CAN supplies continuous elevation feedback and the blade-control commands used to follow that reference.
Choose the Box Blade Width
4 ft / 1.22 m Box Blade
The narrowest listed ACTU-Blade option provides a compact working width. Select it where the machine and project call for a narrower grading implement.
5 ft / 1.52 m Box Blade
The intermediate width provides a choice between the smaller and larger ACTU-Blade configurations. Selection should account for the machine, intended grading area and material-handling requirements.
6 ft / 1.83 m Box Blade
The widest listed option increases the available blade width for each pass. Confirm that the machine, mounting arrangement and hydraulic installation suit the selected implement and working conditions.
Included Control Equipment and Separate Installation Requirements
The package combines one box blade in the selected width with the Gold-CAN control system. The documented MD205-CAN configuration comprises the CP210-CAN control panel, one MD205-CAN laser receiver, and the Gold-CAN power, receiver and valve cables.
A compatible rotary laser and suitable transmitter support are required separately. Automatic control also requires compatible hydraulic solenoid-valve equipment, hydraulic connections and machine-specific mounting. The electrical valve cable connects the controller to the valve; it does not supply the hydraulic valve or hoses.
The PM400-CAN power mast and RS100-CAN wired remote are optional Gold-CAN accessories. Neither is part of this blade-and-control-system bundle.
Automatic Hydraulic Blade Height Control
In Automatic mode, the CP210-CAN processes the receiver’s grade information and commands a compatible on/off solenoid valve to raise or lower the box blade. The corrections move the receiver toward the selected on-grade band as the machine travels across the work area.
This configuration provides blade elevation control from one laser receiver. The operator remains responsible for machine travel, material handling and monitoring the grading operation.
Automatic elevation corrections can reduce repeated manual blade inputs. Performance depends on a correctly established laser reference, secure receiver mounting, suitable hydraulics and response settings matched to the machine.
Manual Guidance and Clear Grade Indication
Manual mode leaves hydraulic adjustment with the operator while maintaining the laser grade reference on the receiver and control-panel indicators. It supports setup, checking and grading tasks where the operator wants direct control of blade movement.
The receiver uses three colors to identify its position:
- Red: above grade.
- Green: on grade.
- Yellow: below grade.
High-visibility flashing LEDs, eight beam-detection positions and the CP210-CAN display help the operator monitor elevation and blade-control status. The system also provides lost-laser indication and can show the last detected beam position.
Selectable Control Tolerances
Gold-CAN provides three selectable control bands:
| Relative band width | Control tolerance |
|---|---|
| Narrowest | ±0.12 in / ±3 mm |
| Intermediate | ±0.35 in / ±9 mm |
| Widest | ±0.55 in / ±14 mm |
A narrower band sets a tighter on-grade tolerance. A wider band allows more variation around the reference before the position is treated as outside the selected band. Choose the setting together with the hydraulic response and the requirements of the grading task.
These figures describe the control system’s selectable tolerances. Finished-surface accuracy also depends on the transmitter, installation, hydraulic response, machine movement and working conditions.
360° Laser Reception and Signal Processing
The MD205-CAN receiver captures the rotary laser from any direction around its 360° reception field. Its 7.48 in / 190 mm measurement window provides the detection area used to identify above-grade, on-grade and below-grade positions.
Real-time laser bounce filtration and adjustable signal smoothing help stabilize the grade information during machine vibration and movement. The receiver uses a mechanical clamp mount and combines CAN data communication with its power connection.
The aluminum-alloy receiver body is rated IP68. The CP210-CAN control panel is rated IP66. These component ratings support use in agricultural and grading environments exposed to dust and moisture.
Level and Sloped Laser References
The kit can follow a level, single-slope or dual-slope laser reference when the external transmitter provides the required capability. A horizontal plane supports level grading; a slope-capable transmitter allows the reference to follow the planned surface fall.
Slope values and optical working range are determined by the selected transmitter. They are not fixed specifications of this bundle, because a transmitter is supplied separately.
A dual-slope laser defines the reference plane in two directions. The included Gold-CAN configuration still controls blade raising and lowering from one receiver; independent automatic control of both blade ends requires a different control configuration.
Independent Raise and Lower Response Adjustment
Hydraulic behavior varies with valve characteristics, machine pressure and flow, implement loading and the installed circuit. The CP210-CAN allows raise and lower response to be adjusted independently from 20 to 100 through its menu.
Separate settings allow each direction to be tuned to the machine. During commissioning, establish the correct blade movement direction, receiver-to-blade relationship and response before using Automatic mode for grading.
The control panel and receiver operate on 12–24 V DC. The documented hydraulic interface provides a 12 V DC valve-control output, so the valve and wiring must match that output as well as the hydraulic requirements of the machine.
Optional Receiver-Height Adjustment and Survey Mode
The PM400-CAN electric power mast adds receiver-height adjustment from the CP210-CAN. It provides 39.37 in / 1,000 mm of travel, digital position measurement and stated positioning accuracy of ±0.04 in / ±1 mm.
When this optional mast is installed and configured, Gold-CAN’s Survey mode supports checking high and low areas relative to a selected reference point. This can assist with relative elevation and slope checks before or during grading.
Survey operation depends on the optional mast configuration. The supplied box blade and standard receiver arrangement provide the core grading package.
Maintain Planned Surface Grades
Uneven elevations can interrupt a planned fall toward a drainage outlet or complicate irrigation preparation. A correctly configured slope-capable transmitter establishes the required reference, and Gold-CAN helps the operator guide the box blade along that plane.
This can support more consistent surface shaping for drainage and water distribution. Results depend on the grading design, outlet conditions, soil, weather and execution of the work.
For construction and property grading, the same reference-based process supports repeatable blade elevation across compatible level or sloped work areas.
Reduce Repeated Manual Blade Corrections
Following grade manually requires the operator to watch elevation and repeatedly adjust the hydraulic controls. Automatic mode uses live receiver information to generate those raise/lower commands, while adjustable response settings allow the corrections to suit the installation.
The operator can concentrate on machine travel, material distribution and system monitoring while retaining access to Manual mode. The optional RS100-CAN wired remote provides additional blade up/down and Manual/Automatic controls through the CP210-CAN remote connection.
CAN Connectivity, Diagnostics and Support
Gold-CAN uses wired CAN communication between compatible components. Dedicated receiver, power and valve connections organize the installation, while application-specific keyed connectors help reduce incorrect connections.
The industrial cable system uses oil-resistant jackets, construction intended for mechanical stress and low-temperature operation, and water- and dust-resistant circular MIL-style connectors.
The CP210-CAN provides a backlit display, a receiver-communication warning and short-circuit protection. Its menus include tolerance selection, valve response, mast type, measurement units, signal smoothing and an optional Automatic-mode buzzer. Software version, serial number and active/inactive time counters are available for system identification and operating checks.
CANAMEK provides after-sales support seven days a week for configuration and operating assistance. The kit includes a two-year free warranty.
