Reuters reported that borrowing through equipment suppliers, agricultural cooperatives and other nontraditional lenders may not be fully captured in federal estimates, and researchers have identified discrepancies between official numbers and certain forms of equipment debt. USDA officials told Reuters the agency is researching ways to better understand and measure these financing arrangements.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The findings matter for farm operators, agricultural lenders and input suppliers at a time when producers are dealing with elevated operating costs and tighter finances. USDA already expects sector solvency to weaken this year, with debt growing faster than assets and the debt to asset ratio edging up from 13.34% to 13.54%.
